The Hybrid Book

WELCOME TO THE HOME PAGE of The Hybrid Book: Intersection and Intermedia. The MFA Book Arts/Printmaking Program at The University of the Arts will host this international Book Arts Conference and Fair, June 4-6, 2009.

Book Arts represents a multi-arts forum: two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and time-based, one in which design, fine arts, craft, language, and new technologies combine, compete, and intersect. The focus of The Hybrid Book will be on that aspect--the book as a hybrid art form and book arts as multi-disciplinary.

Central to the University's vision is an interest in the interdisciplinary in art and a belief that from such opportunities, new forms of creative expression emerge. Our MFA Book Arts/Printmaking Program, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2008-2009, is inspired by that exploration.

Please join us, a diverse group of artists, designers, educators, publishers and collectors, to discuss the potential of book arts and its multi and interdisciplinary dimensions and to experience examples of this art that are sure to please, excite, move, and confound.
